7 Things That Get Overlooked When Wedding Planning

Saying there are a lot of things that go into wedding planning would be an understatement. Even if you are super organized, it’s easy to let a few things slip through the cracks, especially as your wedding day nears. Here are some of the most common forgotten wedding items:

Photos

Most photographers will ask you for a detailed list of which groups you want photographed, as well as any specific photo moments you want covered. Make sure you think really hard about this and try not to leave anything out. It’s hard enough for photographers to wrangle families, but when you don’t have a list to go off of, it can really impede on your timeline. The same goes if you forget you wanted to take some photos at sunset with your S.O. and go off for 30 minutes to do so.

Cake Cutter

If you are having a cake that is provided by your caterer, make sure you discuss the cake cutter! This will not be on your caterer’s standard rental list so if you don’t have a special one, just ask your planner or caterer to add that to your rental order.

Tips & Payments

If your vendors allow your final deposit to be paid day of, remember to bring your check book. It’s also helpful for tips to be placed into labeled envelopes before the end of the evening. You can hand these to your planner to distribute. If you aren’t sure what to tip, you can check out my post here.

Inventory List

Whether you are breaking down yourself at the end of the evening, or you are having your wedding planner handle, it’s extremely helpful to have an inventory list. That way, nothing gets left behind or accidentally thrown out.

Emergency Kit

While you likely won’t end up needing all of the items you get, this is such an important safety net! Fill a bag or basket with things like safety pins, stain stick, mints, jewelry cleaner, fabric tape and advil. My recommendation would be to place an order online a few weeks before your wedding.

Comfortable Shoes

If you plan on wearing heels, don’t forget to bring a set of backup shoes! The last thing you want is to be out of commission on the dance floor because of blisters.

Marriage License

Last and certainly not least, your marriage license. If you are getting legally married on your wedding day (lots of people actually do this beforehand at the courthouse!), remember you must bring your marriage license for your officiant to sign. It also needs to be sent back within a certain timeframe.
